BLOG DISACTIVATED

Foi no dia 10 de Janeiro deste ano que entramos no ar, depois de dois meses de preparação. Nós duas estavamos muito ansiosas por tanta coisas que queriamos dividir com vocês! E mesmo pensando no quanto queriamos inspirar pelo menos alguns de vocês, no fim fomos nós mesmas que ficamos ainda mais inspiradas. Carregar uma máquina gigante pela cidade quase que esses meses inteiros nos fez prestar atenção em detalhes que nem sempre reparavamos. Fomos em eventos sem pensar que talvez não teriamos aproveitado tanto, como as duas semanas de moda da cidade nesse tempo e outros eventos relacionado à Moda. Conhecemos pessoas maravilhosas e lugares novos. A nossa cobertura do Coachella nos fez manter contato com muitas pessoas que conhecemos lá só por causa do blog. Fizemos questão de estar em todos os shows e festivais de músicas (aqui e aqui) de estilos que gostamos… Fizemos amigos, conhecemos muita gente interessante. Nos conhecemos melhor. Nos dividimos. Contamos até alguns traumas.

Mas a verdade é que tivemos momentos incríveis. Nos divertimos muito! Saímos da nossa zona de conforto e tomamos riscos… Nós nos submetemos a algumas situações desconfortáveis. Usamos coisas que não estavamos acostumadas. Nos expomos. E não nos arrependemos, só agradecemos por tudo ter ido tão bem esses meses!

Porém, nesse tempo também crescemos, e a fase teste do Colour The City acabou. O blog não será mais atualizado, apesar de que manteremos o arquivo no ar. A Marina decidiu focar no seu trabalho no Mercado Financeiro e último ano de faculdade de Administração, e está levando uma vida mais que corrida. Bárbara vai logo lançar um blog próprio, novidades logo mais aqui. Para quem sentir saudades da Marina, ainda vai ver muito ela no novo blog da Bárbara!

Por isso, esse último post é só para agradecer a todas nossos leitores e suas visitas. O blog cresceu muito rápido e ficamos muito felizes. Recebemos vários emails que fizeram nós vermos que o blog conseguiu atingir nesse tempo o seu objetivo, e ficamos muito felizes com isso.

Mais uma vez, muito obrigada. Esperamos que vocês levem com vocês alguma coisa do Colour The City, seja um novo hobby, uma nova idéia ou uma nova descoberta! E quem quiser manter contato ou falar com a gente, é só adicionar a gente no Facebook mesmo!

It was on January, 10th this year we went on air, after two months of preparation. We were both thinking about how much we wanted to inspire at least some of you, when at the end we were the one to be even more inspired. Carrying a huge camera around the city these months made us pay more attention to details we did not always care about. We attended some events without thinking twice that maybe we wouldn’t, like  the two fashion weeks in Sao Paulo in this meantime and other events fashion-related. We’ve met amazing people and new places. Our coverage on Coachella made us keep in touch with a bunch of people we met there just because of the blog. We made it a priority to go to every gig and music festivals (here & here) we liked… We made friends and met a lot of interesting people. We got to know ourselves more and we shared it. We even shared some traumas.

But the truth is we had amazing moments. We had fun! We went out of our comfort zone and took risks… We got ourselves in some non-comfortable situations. We wore some pieces we weren’t used to. We got exposed. But we don’t regret, we are only thankful for things going so well these months!

But during this whole time, we also grew, and the test phase of Colour The City is over. We won’t be updating the blog anymore, although we will keep the archive on air. Marina decided to stay focused on her Financial Market job and her senior year ar Business School. Barbara is soon launching a new blog, news here soon. And for those who will miss Marina, you will still get to see her a lot in Bárbara’s new blog!

So that’s the reason this last post is to thank our readers and their visits. The blog grew very quickly and we got really happy. We got some emails that made us see that we did achieve the blog’s mission in this time, and this made us very proud.

Once again, thank you. We hope you take something from Colour The City, be it a new hobby, a new idea or a new discovery! And if anyone wants to keep in touch or talk to us, just hit us on Facebook!

THE TOP BUT ALSO THE BASE

Já estou de volta a São Paulo mas queria postar duas fotos especiais do dias dos pais, com meus avós paternos. Os dois são um grande exemplo de companheirismo, casamento, educação e família, além de terem uma história de muito trabalho e integridade… Sempre que vou para Londrina já fico pensando que preciso ir o mais rápido possível visitar os dois, já que por morar longe não estou sempre com eles. Meus avós maternos então, moram mais longe ainda! É uma pena né? Se pudessemos, levavamos todos sempre com a gente para todos os cantos.

[EN] I’m back to Sao Paulo already but i’d like to post too special photos from Father’s Day, with my paternal grandparents. Both of them are a great example of companionship, marriage, education and family, and also have a story of hard work and integrity… Every time I go to Londrina I am already thinking about going as soon as possible to their house, since I live far I don’t get to be always with them. My maternal grandparents are even further! So bad! If we could, we would take everyone with us to every corner.

BOURBON STREET FEST SÃO PAULO

Sábado fui no Parque Ibirapuera conferir o Bourbon Street Fest, um festival criado em 2003 que reúne bandas de jazz, blues, R&B, soul e funk para representar a cultura musical de New Orleans e Louisiana. Não preciso nem dizer o quanto foi gostoso (até porque qualquer festival, por menor que seja, lá estou ou eu ou a Bá, gostamos pouco!), e o quanto é legal ver que muita gente comparece a esses eventos. Gente jovem que aprecia esse tipo de música e que prestigia a cidade e seu crescimento cultural. Esse é o melhor jeito de colour the city!

[EN] ON Saturday I went to Ibirapuera park to check out Bourbon Street Fest, a festival created in 2003 that reunites jazz, blues, R&B, soul and funk bands to represent the musical culture of New Orleans and Louisiana, I don’t even have to say how much it was nice (even because at any festival, even the smallest one, there is me or Bá, we like them just a little!), and how much it’s nice to see that a lot of people show up. Young people who appreciatte this kind of music and that give prestige to the city and to its cultural growth. That is the best way to colour the city!

Nesse sábado foi o chá e apresentação da Giovana, filha da minha prima Isabela Khouri Meneghetti e o marido Eduardo Meneghetti! Olha que rico em detalhes! E toda essa decoração maravilhosa e fofa foi feita pela minha prima Nicolle, irmã da Isabela… É muito carinho e dedicação né? Cada detalhe maravilhoso e a Nicolle fez só para a sobrinha! Já falei que ela vai ter que abrir um business, de tanta gente que vai querer também!

This saturday was the baby shower and presentation of Giovana, she’s daughter of my cousin Isabela Khouri Meneghetti and husband Eduardo Meneghetti! So rich in details! And all this wonderful cut edecor was made by my cousin Nicolle, sister of Isabela… It takes a lot of affection and dedication, right? So many lovely details and Nicolle made it just for her niece! I already told her she has a business to open, so many people will want it too!

E olha que delícia de bebê! Só tem 45 dias essa princesinha! Bem-vinda Giovana, que você seja muito feliz!

MODA NO BRASIL - MUSEU DE ARTE BRASILEIRA (FAAP)

Hoje acontece, no MAB-FAAP, o lançamento da exposição “Moda no Brasil - criadores contemporâneos e memória”, aberta ao público a partir de domingo e eu fui lá ontem conferir, antes da hora, e trazer para vocês um pouco do que mais gostei! A exposição é muito rica para colocar inteirinha aqui, mas vou contar um pouco dela e mostrar os detalhes!

[EN] Today happens, at MAB-FAAP, the launching of exhibition “Fashion in Brazil - contemporary creators and memory” (free translation), which opens to the public this Sunday but I went there yesterday to check it beforehand, and bring you guys a bit of what I most liked! The exhibition is too rich to show it completely to you guys, but i’ll tell you about it and show you some details!

PAU-BRASIL: A exposição começa falando do homem do Brasil em sua descoberta, da modificação estética dos indígenas, da pintura à ornamentação - destacando o trabalho artesanal. Assim, apresenta a designer de jóias Maria Lúcia Barbosa, que ilustra em suas peças esse artesanato Brasileiro de tradição primitiva.

[EN] BRAZIL-WOOD: The exhibition starts talking about the brazilian man of the country’s discovery, the visual modification from native, from painting to ornamentations - highlighting the handmade work. This way, it introduces you to jewerly designer Maria Lúcia Barbosa, that illustrates in her pieces this Brazilian primitive tradition of handmade art.

PUBLICAÇÕES: Em seguida, mostra a história das publicações de Moda no Brasil, a maioria revistas que apenas traziam uma sessão do assunto. Também conta que já havia publicação de moda de rua, principalmente com mulheres que compunham a alta-sociedade.

[EN] PUBLICATIONS: Following, it shows the history of fashion publications in Brazil, most of them magazines that only carried one section in the subject. It also shows us that they already had streetstyle publications, mostly wim high-society women.

INDUSTRIA E COMÉRCIO: Aqui podemos ver o oligopólio de poucas casas de moda no país. Algumas existem até hoje, outras perderam-se no tempo.

[EN] INDUSTRY AND TRADE: Here we can see the oligopoly of the few fashion houses in the country. Some still exist today, others were lost in time.

FEIRAS E DESFILES: Apesar do sucesso de alguns eventos antes disso, foi no início da década de 50 que a Industria Téxtil começou a usar desfiles anuais para promover a aceitação do produto nacional.

[EN] FASHION FAIRS AND SHOWS: Beside the sucess of others event before that, it was in the 50’s that the Textile Industry started to use fashion shows to promote the acceptance of national products.

MODISTAS: Eram mulheres que ocupavam o lugar entre as costureiras e os grandes estilistas, responsavéis por fazer alterações nas peças com a simplicidades da época para algo mais tendência.

[EN] MILLINERS: They were women that took the place between seamstress and fashion designers, responsable to make alterations in the pieces with the simplicity of time to something more trendy.

COSTUREIROS: O boom de costureiros também ocorreu, no Brasil, na década de 50, mostrando a capacidade da indústria da moda no país.

[EN] DRESSMAKERS: The dressmakersboomhappened, in Brazil, also in the 50’s, showing the capacity of the country’s fashion industry.

FORMAÇÃO: Na segunda metáde do século XIX surgiu o primeiro curso de formação em Corte e Costura. A amostra conta o desenvolvimento das faculdades de Moda no país e ilustra também a importância do curso de Moda da FAAP, que sempre trás ao país nomes importantes da industria.

[EN] EDUCATION: It was on the second half of th 19th century that rises the first certificated course in Sewing. The exhibition tell us about the development of the first Fashion colleges in the country and illustrates the importance of FAAP’s Fashion course, which always brings to the country important industry names.

NOVÍSSIMOS: Algumas faculdades Brasileiras participaram com o trabalho de alunos em formação. Os meus preferidos foram o de Kledir Salgado e José Guilherme Diniz Alves da USP (esquerda) e o da Mariana Simoni e Thaís Storino da Faculdade Anhembi Morumbi (direita)

[EN] NEWCOMERS: Some brazilians schools took part with the work of graduating students. My favorites were Kledir Salgado and José Guilherme Diniz Alvez from USP (left) and Mariana Simoni and Storino from Anhembi Morumbi (right).

EXPORTANDO: E trazendo para o dia de hoje, vemos os três produtos da moda brasileira que mais são exportados: moda praia, Havaianas e jeans.

[EN] EXPORTING: And coming back to nowadays, we see three most important products from brazilian fashion that are most exported: beachwear, Havaianas and jeans.

A gente compra bolsa nova e esquece das outras né? Ou tem aquelas básicas do dia a dia e não troca nunca! Essa semana tirei duas bolsas do armário que não usava a um tempinho… A primeira umaMiu Miuazul marinho grande estilo messenger e a segunda umaFendipreta/caramelo/vermelha também messenger mais bem menor, daquela coleção color block que fez sucesso ano passado (mesma da Silvana)! É tão bom “redescobrir” suas coisas…

We get new bags and forget about the rest of them, right? Or we have the basic ones we wear daily and never we change! This week I took two bags off of the closet that haven’t been worn in a while… The first one a huge navymessenger bag byMiu Miuand the second one a black/red/caramelFendione, also messenger but much smaller, from that color block collection that was a huge hit last year (same from Silvana)! It’s so good to rediscover your stuff…

A THOUGHT

Outro dia estava na casa da minha tia em Catanduva e me deparei com um adesivo de Snowbird colado no vidro de um móvel.. Eu perguntei pra minha tia de onde ela tinha tirado esse adesivo, e ela me respondeu: vocês me trouxeram quando eram pequenas e foram para Salt Lake City esquiar.. Eu me lembrava da viagem, mas não me lembrava nunca de ter visto esse adesivo na casa dela (mesmo tendo ido no mínimo umas 400 vezes desde então).. Snowbird é uma estação de ski em Salt Lake City, Utah, nos Estados Unidos. Ano passado eu fiz um semestre na University of Utah, e acabei conhecendo melhor as estações, e gostei muito particularmente de Snowbird (tanto que comprei essa camiseta da foto e ela virou minha preferida). O lugar me passava um clima legal, as pistas eram mais tranquilas (algumas) e o lugar era lotado de crianças com as roupinhas e botinhas de ski. 

O meu ponto aqui é que ver aquele adesivo me fez pensar em quantos lugares, situações e até mesmo pessoas encontramos e que nem imaginamos que possam um dia voltar a fazer parte de nossa vida… Quantas coisas não percebemos na hora, mas que vão acabar gerando um efeito, mesmo que pequeno, de alguma maneira em nós. 

Ano passado, quando voltei do intercâmbio, fui trabalhar numa corretora de investimentos. Fiquei 1 mês, odiei, e resolvi ir trabalhar em agência, com design gráfico. Acabei ficando por 5 meses, adorava meu trabalho, mas percebi que ele era mais um hobby do que uma carreira que queria seguir. Senti falta do mercado financeiro e acabei voltando, para uma corretora diferente, onde estou até agora.. 

Não quero ficar aqui enrolando até parecer uma louca refletindo sobre o significado da vida, mas acho que realmente ando prestando atenção em como a nossa vida é agora. E como os fatos que ocorrem se interligam sempre, e as situações sempre geram consequências importantes para nossas decisões futuras. Mesmo que inconscientemente. Pequenas coisas acontecem todos os dias, que vão nos direcionando e mudando como percebemos e entendemos as situações. Portanto, deixo vocês com este pensamento que vem ocupando minha mente e me fazendo valorizar mais meus momentos e sentimentos perante certas situações. O mais importante da vida, com certeza, é se conhecer e ter a segurança de suas ações por elas representarem quem você é.

[EN]  The other day I was at my aunts house in Catanduva and I stumbled upon a Snowbird sticker glued to the glass door of a piece of furniture.. I asked my aunt where she had got it and she answered: you brought it to me when you were little and went to Salt Lake City skiing.. I remembered the trip, but Id never really noticed the sticker in her house (even though Id been there at least 400 times since then).. Snowbird is a ski resort in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States. Last year I did a semester abroad at the University of Utah, and I ended up getting to know better all of the resorts and mountains, and I particularly really liked Snowbird (so much that I even bought the T-shirt pictured in the photo and it became my favorite). The place gave me a nice atmosphere feeling, the trails were easier (some of them) and it was packed with children with little ski clothes and boots.

My point here is that seeing that sticker made me realize how many places, situations and even people we encounter and don’t even imagine that might come back and be a part of our lives.. How many things don’t we realize at the moment, but turn out to generate an effect, even a small one, on us somehow.

Last year, when I returned from the exchange, I went to work in a brokerage firm. I stayed there for a month, hated it and decided to work in a publicity agency with graphic design. I stayed there for 5 months, loved my job, but I realized that it was more of a hobby than a career Id like to pursue. I missed the financial market and went back to work in another brokerage firm, which is where I am currently working..

I don’t wanna stay here and ramble on like a motivational speaker talking about the meaning of life, but I have really been paying attention to how our life is happening right now. And how the facts that occur connect between themselves, and the situations generate important consequences for our future decisions. Even unconsciously. Little things happen everyday, that direct and change the way the perceive and understand situations. Therefore, I leave you with this thought that has been occupying my mind and making me give more value to my moments and feelings towards certain situations. The most important thing in life is, for sure, to know yourself and be confident in your actions, for they represent exactly who you are.
